In today’s current economy many small businesses and entrepreneurs are looking for simple and effective ways to increase sales, but with consumers spending less and profit margins getting smaller they are finding that they have less money to spend on advertising and marketing. This is causing business owners and professionals to work harder and look for more creative, cost effective ways to generate leads and sales.
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. As a matter of fact many small businesses and privately owned companies are doing better in today’s marketplace than their larger competitors, simply because they’re becoming more innovative with their sales process.
In this post we are going to go over some quick ways to help you start making more sales in your business. While you may already be familiar with some of these methods they are all solid and effective techniques that you can use to increase your sales.
Always qualify your prospect
When your budget is tight and time is short, it is important to make sure that your efforts will actually achieve results. When it comes to qualifying prospects the faster you can determine if you have got a potential customer the better.
Do your best to gain trust
Price and product benefits are obvious buying factors, but never ignore the less obvious factors such as intuition, impressions, and rapport. It is important to remember that prospects are just as likely to buy for emotional reasons as for practical ones. Do your best to show them that you are sincere, honest and that you are honorable. Never make a promise to a new prospect and then break it. For instance; if you tell them their shipment will arrive on Thursday make sure you can deliver. Rather overstate delivery times and have the shipment delivered early.
Define your unique buying proposition (UPS)
If your product or service provides your customer with specific benefits do your best to make sure that they are better than your nearest competition. Make sure you express to them what makes your company stand out and why they should choose your business over someone else’s.
Always listen to your customer
When it comes to selling things most people are guilty of overselling. These people miss out on closing the sale. It is important to listen to your prospect as they answer questions, be aware of their tone and pay close attention to their body language. If you take the time to listen to your customer and discover their problem(s), you can then provide them with a solution, enabling you to close the sale. Doing this also helps build trust and respect with your new customer.
Make your presentation sparkle
Never take your sales presentation for-granted. before meeting with a potential client make sure you create and practice your pitch. You have spent a lot of money perfecting your product or service, it is equally important to take the time to develop a polished and effective presentation in order to sell your product/service.
Always do your homework
Before any meeting with a client always take time to research your prospect. This ensures you to have a solid understanding of their business needs; you will also ask better questions as well as be more prepared and confident in the meeting.
In closing, it is important to note that if you do not sell your products or services, there will be no revenue for your business. With every new prospect you meet make sure that they receive a positive engaging experience. Remember, happy customers buy more products and give the sought after word-of-mouth advertising naturally.
Making my presentation sparkle is my biggest takeaway from this. I need to fine tune this part of my sales process.
